Just Another Person?

When walking down the footpath,
A person that you pass
May ask for some money
Or maybe just water in a glass.
Most of us just ignore them.
Think of them as trash.
Because we’re too busy
Too caught up in our own troubles
To worry about something
That doesn’t concern us.
Why can’t we just slow down
Maybe help a life along the way?
You never know what might happen
So why not give it a try?
Because one day that person could be you.
You could be watching the people pass by
They could totally ignore you
Like you did to those,
Or they could have compassion
And lend a helping hand.
So take the time to stop and talk to people
Who cry out for some help.
You may make a new friend
Or feel so much better inside.
They probably have more problems than you
So why not put yourself in their shoes-
Even if it is just for a minute.
Sit down beside them-
Give them a little hug.
It might mean the world to them.
Give them an apple and an espresso.
What else is there to do in life anyway?
So go today and give someone a helping hand
To show them that someone cares.
