You wake up each morning by the dim lights illuminating the room around you and you look around. The people around you are, and will be the only people you will ever know. You’re huddled up, having frozen the night before, the dirt clump that serves as a bed having offered you no warmth.
You sit up, knowing that the next morning will be the same, except one less person will be around you, at the least. You know that you might be the one to fight and die, or the one to kill one of your friends, but you have no choice.
The rags which were disregarded by anyone that matters had been given to you as clothes are covered with your own blood and the blood of your friends. As an orphane you mean nothing to the people around you. But that is the way it has been since you were told that your parents had been killed by the Dragons. At least, that’s the lies the Government has put before you.
But there is hope, each person around you has a gift, one that the Dragons have given you to help aid all humans, one that the Government wants to keep controlled. And there is one boy organising a group, a group that will fight back and stand up for yourself. You know that whatever way it goes you’re going to die in battle, so why not die for something you believe in rather than something that you’ve been ordered to do.
