You Promised

You promised you wouldn’t hurt me,
You swore you would always be true.
And now I look around,
And I can’t seem to find you.

You promised you wouldn’t hurt me,
You said you would always care.
Yet I turned to see if I was wrong at first,
And you still aren’t there.

You promised you wouldn’t hurt me,
You swore that I’d always be your girl.
Never leaving me alone in this dark,
Heartless, sometimes cruel world.

You promised you wouldn’t hurt me,
You said you would always be true.
So tell me why I sit here crying,
Acid tear drops over someone like you?
