A Deadly Blessing

Thunderous drops of rain fell down on rooftops
It seemed like endless splashes of a giant’s teardrops
Everyone was panicking, thinking will this ever end?
The floods were getting worse; we shouldn’t have to pretend.
Children on the streets sadly clutched their teddy bears
While the ruins of their flooded bedrooms could never be repaired
No one had driven their car for days, and we were running out of supplies
Families were on their hands and knees pleading, “Please don’t let the water rise,”
