Tattered Mast

It hurts when we bleed,
It hurts when we fall,
It hurts when our love is broken,
That very last call,
The feeling of heartbrokenness,
Shatters a heart like glass,
Tortured and tattered,
Hoisting that very last mast,
To sail another day,
In the big open world,
Plenty of fish, they say,
To find that glowing pearl,
Be strong, be brave,
Thou captain spoke to us that day,
Never give up,
Just sail to another bay,
It will hurt til it’s over,
After the war is fought,
Those everlasting emotions,
A lesson we’ve all been taught.
