Lest We Forget

Down in the trenches, covered in dirt and mud, are the strongest of us all,
Holding their rifle against their heart, courage pumping through their veins,
Are our solders, too far away from home, fighting for us,
Risking their lives everyday, shooting down enemies, none betray,
Missing their loves ones, the warmth and safety,
Each day a new solder rises, but each day many solders fall,
They fall for us, for their country, for their beliefs,
War, a never ending fight, War, the biggest murderer of all,
What do we gain? Land, something so small, while we loose hundreds of souls,
The souls we loose are bigger than land, are bigger than a country,
They are true souls bigger than anything, they may fall but at the same time they rise,
They deserve more; though you think only little can be done,
We can wish and we can pray, but what do we say?
What can we say? Every year on that very day?
Lest We Forget
