Jus For One Minute

Just for one minute,
Australia is silent,
Remembering the terrors of war.
Just for one minute,
Australia grieves,
Their hearts going out to those now long gone.
Just for one minute,
We go back to the past,
And comfort those with loss.
Just for one minute,
We walk the road of death,
And honour those who have reached the end of it.
The war, when it calls,
Draws men and boys alike,
To serve for their country and empire.
The war, when it calls,
Takes the men and boys,
And shows them what horror could be.
The war, when it calls,
Steals the lives of so many,
Leaving those behind with nothing but memories.
The war, when it calls,
Takes all innocence,
Showing that youth has no place in the world.
The fighters are gone,
But just for one minute,
We remember what life could be.
The fighters are gone,
But just for one minute,
We thank those who saved us.
