Saving Santa

It was 3 days before Christmas and Sophia was watching the news whilst decorating her Christmas tree. The reporter announced a breaking news story that made Sophia shiver.
“This just in,” the reporter started, “Santa Claus has been snowed in to his workshop, and I don’t think there will be a Christmas this year.” She said sadly.
“Oh no I have to find a way to rescue him! I will set out tomorrow morning “exclaimed Sophia. She drifted off to sleep, dreaming of ways to save Christmas. Until she was woken with a fright by tap, tap tappity-tap on her window. Quickly and quietly she opened her window and outside was Rudolf, whizzing around.
“Oh good you’re awake!” he exclaimed, “I heard what you said and I’m here to take you to the North Pole so you can help rescue Santa!”
“Oh yay!” cried Sophia, “I get to save Santa and Christmas!”
So she put on her warmest clothes, jumped on to Rudolf’s’ back and they set out in to the beautiful night sky on starry midnight journey. They arrived at Santa’s’ workshop with only one day left, it was now the day before Christmas at the North Pole. Time had passed quickly while they had travelled. Sophia jumped off Rudolf and began to look everywhere for a snow plough, but it was no use. There wasn’t one, only a candy cane shovel. The snow stuck to the shovel like sticky gooey toffee as she dug through the snow. She tried to make her own plough but tripped and sunk into the cold wet snow. Digging herself out she came across something sharp, she grabbed it and pulled it out of the snow. It was a crystal wand, clear and sharp like an icicle. Sophia didn’t know it was the Winter Witches wand until Rudolf explained. ”That is the Winter Witches wand! She planned on destroying Christmas because she has no one to spend it with; she is alone because she is so horrible to everyone!” “That is a very selfish thing to do! “ Sophia said shaking with rage. She had found the same wand the witch had used to cause all the trouble Santa was now in. She waved it carefully and hoped it would work, wondering why the witch would have left it behind and worrying it may only work for bad not good. Luckily, the snow disappeared! Santa ran out hugged her and thanked her in a panic as there was only a few hours left until Christmas morning. “Thank you Sophia, I will always be grateful and you are forever on the nice list” he said with a smile, lifted her on to Rudolf, hopped in his sleigh and they were off! He must have taken her home because when she woke she was in her bed. It could have been a dream except she was still holding the wand. She smiled knowing she had rescued Santa and Christmas was saved.
