Yesterday's Journey
Only yesterday, I made my home vacant,
Set myself upon a new career,
Opened myself to a world of boundless opportunities,
And the relentless traffic of prying eyes.
I drove with technique to strike the ball,
Strove with an ambition to hit them all,
I remorsefully put my normal routine aside,
Watching my life pass me by.
Only yesterday, I expressed that failing was a burden,
Drowning in sorrow and lost support,
Personal sacrifices knew no bounds,
My heart empty had lost its destiny.
Hour upon hour, the coach enhances my technique,
Bonded together by common ground,
Tomorrow’s challenge, resting is the key,
Preparing myself for what lies before me.
I hear a scream, surprised to be my own,
Today, the leader board displays my name,
Achievement and belief swamped my mind,
Relief for my family, sacrifices rewarded.
