Men Of War
In terror they watched,
As the sky turned black,
The frightened, the brave,
Prayed the enemy wouldn't attack.
That night in the darkness,
The brave, young and old,
Waited for fire,
As they shared yarns often told.
And when it started,
In the silence of night.
When bullets and bombs,
Rained Down, calling the soldiers to fight.
And in that carnage,
Where fortune fell.
This place where now, nothing,
For many was like living in hell.
